The Association of Commonwealth Universities: ACU Commonwealth Summer School Bursaries
The ACU Commonwealth Summer School was instigated in 2011. It aims to provide a forum to bring together high quality students from every corner of the Commonwealth to discuss multidisciplinary issues of global importance.
A key element of the School is its desire to mix local and regional students with their peers from all over the Commonwealth who may not have ever had the opportunity to leave their own regions.
The Summer School is hosted in a different country each year. In its previous four years it has been held in Cameroon, Botswana, the United Kingdom, Malaysia and Canada.

The cost of the summer school is GBP 350 for delegates from member institutions and GBP 500 for delegates of non-member Commonwealth institutions. This includes registration, accommodation (in same sex shared rooms), travel and transport during the summer school, all meals on the conference venue and airport transfer on arrival (limited availability) to the venue.
Full and partial bursaries are available for students of member institutions who would otherwise be unable to fund the costs of attending.
Full bursaries include return economy air travel and registration fees, accommodation and most meals. They do not include the cost of visas, vaccinations or transfer costs to and from airports.
Partial bursaries may be used towards registration fees (as outlined above) or travel. They cannot be put towards visa, vaccinations costs or additional costs.
Full bursaries are very limited in number and should only be sought by candidates who are very unlikely to be able to raise their travel costs from any other source.

Applicants should be engaged in a course of study at an ACU member university; but applications may be made by applicants from non-member Commonwealth universities. At the time of application, he/she must either be studying for a postgraduate degree (full- or part-time), or in the final year of an undergraduate degree, with the expectation of moving to postgraduate study on completion. Priority will be given to students from member institutions who have not had the opportunity to travel outside their home region.
