Sambhali Trust: Volunteering in Jodhpur, India

Sambhali Trust provides underprivileged Rajasthani women and girls with educational, vocational, and social skills to help them to become confident and financially independent. We specifically work with Dalit women and girls, in Jodhpur or the village of Setrawa who have little or no access to education or basic health services.

In addition to helping to break the cycle of poverty and financial dependence on family members, Sambhali Trust gives these women a voice and a support network to nurture their hopes, dreams, and ambitions. Sambhali is also a voice speaking up for and teaching women's rights, protesting against violence to women and changing societal norms towards women and girls.

Volunteers are central to our work and can spend their time with us in a variety of roles. Some volunteers teach English and create other vital workshops which are directly correlated to the creation skills for employment and the improvement of living standards. Volunteers can also spend part of their time supporting the administration of the charity, or for those on longer trips they can take on volunteer coordination.

Sambhali also takes volunteers with specific skills in sewing, and clothing or accessory design to teach our women new skills or to assist in designing collections for our boutique which provides our women with an income. For more information check the volunteering page on our website: www.sambhali-trust.org .
