Break Charity: Volunteer Mentors

Break operates a 'Leaving Care Mentoring Scheme', recruiting committed volunteers who have a few hours to spare every couple of weeks to support young people who have recently left local authority care. These young people will have experienced rejection, abuse or disruption in their lives and will come from a variety of backgrounds, which include foster placements, kinship placements (extended families), own tenancies and some even live with a parent. With encouragement through this scheme of volunteer mentors and the continued assistance of the social care professionals, a network of support can be provided that will help these young people adapt to living independently.
