Applicants must be native English speakers.
Application process
No previous sailing experience necessary. Participants must be able to speak and understand basic English, should have a positive and co-operative attitude, should be willing to work as part of a team and must be able to understand and retain safety instructions. To apply, applicants should first choose a voyage. Then complete and submit the application form and a short Personal Statement telling why they should participate in the scheme in no less than 400 words. Once the application has been processed participants will receive travel information from the Voyage Department. Participants will be sent a crew members’ guide book and details on dates and times of embarkation and disembarkation.

The JST Youth Leadership @ Sea Scheme is a unique challenge on a tall ship for all adventure seekers 16-25 years old. By joining the crew of the Lord Nelson or Tenacious as a member of the crew, working in a watch of up to 10 people, participants can develop leadership & communication skills, experience teamwork and challenges and develop new friendships. By the end of the scheme participants will feel a great sense of achievement, have made loads of new friends, developed key life skills, had a lot of fun and been given a certificate to prove you
